Medicare 101

Part A – Pays for hospital expenses and is free upon turning 65

Part B – Pays for doctor expenses and treatment.  When you apply for Medicare Part B, you will begin to be charged a monthly fee once your Part B is effective.

Types of Medicare Plans

Traditional supplemental plans and the newer Medicare advantage plans. You will need both Medicare A and B in order to be elligible to enroll into either a Supplimental or Advantage plan.

Enrollment to Acceptance

Annual Open enrollment period for Medicare advantage plans are October 15th to December 7th.  Your initial enrollment period is 6 months leading up to your 65th birthday.
